Most student rooms have network sockets for getting internet access. There’s now a new procedure in place which will hopefully be more straightforward than in previous years.
To get networked, connect your computer to the network socket in your room and when opening any website, you should see a registration page (if you don’t, please contact us) and just follow the instructions. If you have any questions, please read Connect your PC to the Network on the Caius website first and if your questions are still unanswered, please contact the Student Computer Helpline. You will then need to get your computer checked for viruses and updated by the Student Computer Helpers, before your network port is activated by the Computer Office. We’ll run computer checking clinics where you can bring your laptop to be checked. If you have a desktop computer, i.e. not a laptop, please arrange for a Student Computer Helper to visit you. Clinics will be held on these dates. Please come early to clinics as checking might take up to two hours. We’re aiming for checking mainly laptops, but you’re free to bring your desktop computer as well. If you come, please don’t forget your power supply cables.
