Overlooking a street.
- Noise
“Its only noisy very early in the morning when the rubbish truck comes down the street. Apart from that, its very very quiet. Just the sound of people walking down which is quite calming, a lot less busy than Rose Crescent in my opinion.” (Jan 2008)
“There is a bit of noise at about 6am from the bin lorries but the double glazing blocks most of it.its not really a problem” (Feb 2007)
“Not to bad at night, ocasionally vans unloading into shops or drunken bums but really not to bad. Dustbin lorries at 5:30am, 7:30am and 8:30am plus other times in the day (I still don't understand why they have to come so many times) The double glazing is better than none but it isn't perfect! On a similar topic the amount of light through the curtains is bearable but there are street lamps just outside so if light irritates you, you would need to purchase black out curtains to hook onto present curtains.” (Feb 2005)
- Gyp Room
“Gyp room is fine, fairly close to my room.” (Jan 2008)
“fine.choice of 2 not too many people for them” (Feb 2007)
“Quite small but there are two other gyp rooms in the house which are quite accessible, microwaves in each + electric hobs & kettles.” (Feb 2005)
- Bath Room
“There aren't really enough showers, although I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes. The showers aren't amazing but they're actually ok, and I'm very picky.” (Jan 2008)
“same” (Feb 2007)
“Overall 2 showers and a bathroom between 11 + toilet room. Works out fine.” (Feb 2005)
- Furniture
“I have 2 comfy chairs, a desk chair, desk, coffee table, wardrobe, chest of drawers, so fairly ample furniture really.” (Jan 2008)
“normal sized desk, coffee table, 2armchairs, 1 desk chair, 1 small chair” (Feb 2007)
“Your average working desk, two reasonably comfortable chairs, a swivally chair, chest of draws, built in cupboard, plenty of shelves and a bed. Oh and a computer table (quite handy).” (Feb 2005)
- Best Feature
“It is a nice size, big enough to have quite a few people in, not too small and cramped. Its really lovely in the day time, lots of light with 2 big windows. I like it a lot.” (Jan 2008)
“quite light and fairly spacious.and its close to college and sainsburys.1 of the bigger 1s in the house” (Feb 2007)
“Locality to Sainsburys and college etc.. for us we are all 4th years together so that's nice.” (Feb 2005)
- Worst Feature
“The noise of the trucks in the morning. If you have your window open at night for air, you do get woken up in the morning.” (Jan 2008)
“theres a sign from the shop next door which creaks when its windy!no real prolems though, really like it.” (Feb 2007)
“No network (although a trial wireless system is in place this year, so has potential, but due to college network general crapness it's not that satisfying). By the way NTL won't conect it to a broadband exchange (apparently no room in street) and college won't let you get BT (yet...) and even then I think they had lack of space for broadband too.” (Feb 2005)
- General Comments
“All good really, excellent location and good wireless internet connection once up and running.” (Jan 2008)
“Bedder/hostel keeper is a legend. No tumble dryer can be a pain but St.Mikes isn't that far, there are hanging dryers. No morning sun (unless reflected off trinity accomodation) actually no direct sun ever! Nice modern fittings everywhere decor wise, heaters are storage heaters, which are a bit of a bugger but just about managable, don't provide heat on demand though you have to charge them up for 24 hours and they take 24 hours to turn off - so you have to keep predicting the weather! Plenty of power sockets :-)” (Feb 2005)
