Noise

“Yes, often quite noisy, what with the 3am Gardie's crew lurking around downstairs... La Raza also kicks up some noise, but nothing too terrible if you can sleep through it (though some Rose Crescent dwellers resort to ear plugs).” (Jan 2008)

“Living just down the road from Gardies, it can be quite noisy. But actually, with the double glazing, that is a minor problem. The bigger problem as regards noise is La Raza. Frequently you are go to sleep with a pounding base. All of this you can get used to though, such that it is not really an issue.” (Jan 2007)

“Pretty noisy: gardies, la raza and especially the bedders at 7 a.m.” (Jan 2004)

Gyp Room

“Gyp room is 2 metres from the door - spacious, shared between 5 or 6. Pretty decent, kitted out like the rest.” (Jan 2008)

“We have retained hobs because they are inbuilt. The kitchen is large. Only one little fridge for 6 people, which could cause problems. Lots of cupboards for food. Unfortunately the washing machine is in the other gyp room on the corridor, but all it means is a 10 second walk, rather than the 3 seconds it normally takes from Room 4 to the gyp room. Tumble dryer upstairs is also useful.” (Jan 2007)

“medium sized gyp room, shared by about 6 people, 2 metres away from my room.” (Jan 2004)

Bath Room

“2 bathrooms directly opposite the room - shared with 5 others and virtually never have to wait. Showers pretty good.” (Jan 2008)

“Two bathrooms directly opposite the room, such that they might as well be your own. Decent size. 6 people, 2 showers. At the other end of the corridor they also have showers and baths.” (Jan 2007)

“2 bathrooms just opposite my room, shared by about 6 people.” (Jan 2004)

Furniture

“Desk, small wardrobe, loads of shelving, a comfy chair, reasonable low coffee-table thing and a small wheelable desk too. Large chest of drawers...” (Jan 2008)

“Large desk. Lots of book shelves, which makes up for a small wardrobe. In fact it is so small that you cannot have hangers in it and shut the door. Plenty of other furniture. Desk chair, comfy seat, stool, coffee table, chest of drawers. You do need quite a lot of lights in the evening though, because the room is in the wrong place for the evening sun.” (Jan 2007)

“small desk, tiny wardrobe, medium cupboard, an armchair, small computer table.” (Jan 2004)

Best Feature

“LOCATION! Incredible to live a stone's throw from both college and the market.” (Jan 2008)

“The location in Rose Crescent is priceless. Also, if you are with other people you get on well with, the atmosphere is lovely. The room also has a filled in fireplace. Very quaint with mantlepiece. Other rooms do not have this as far as I am aware. The kitchen to student ratio is also good, so that you can do a bit of hosting. You also get a cute little window box.” (Jan 2007)

“central, that's about it” (Jan 2004)

Worst Feature

“Probably the noise, but bearable.” (Jan 2008)

“Gets dark too early and the La Raza music is a bit annoying, but nothing major to complain of. Unfortunately the network socket is not well placed, in that it is right next to the window.” (Jan 2007)

“not enough space for clothes” (Jan 2004)

General Comments

“Room is an unusual shape which makes rearranging the furniture a little tricky. Lots of wall space to fill.” (Jan 2008)

“Bedder is fantastic. She even does washing up for those of us she likes. Carpet slightly beaten after a radiator leak. Plenty of sockets, which are useful for all the lights you will be putting in. Plenty of wall-space for posters. This room is highly recommended.” (Jan 2007)

“heating leaks on some occasions” (Jan 2004)
