This term I've been trying to break down the email into more bite-size chunks to make it easier to get important news out while it's still relevant. As no-one has yet directly contacted me with any feedback yet, I'm running this poll to see whether people would prefer to revert to the supersize biweekly emails. This poll will close Monday midday. Please select from the options below, and email me at jcrpublicity@cai.cam.ac.uk if you have any further comments (This poll isn't very relevant to first years as it is a direct comparison between last year's system and this.) I find it much easier to get the news compared to biweekly emails 52% (33 votes) Doesn't make a difference to me really 30% (19 votes) I find it much harder to get the news compared to biweekly emails 16% (10 votes) New system? I don't read the email anyway! 3% (2 votes) Total voters: 64

If they're too often, we just ignore them
I don't think the key problem is that people's inboxes get clogged, that happens anyway. The trouble really is that if GCSU emails are sent-out too often, people won't have time to read every single one and will miss important messages.
If the emails were bi-weekly, we would only need to open a GCSU email twice a week. Everything can (and used to) be categorised so we don't miss stuff that's relevant to us in particular.
Both systems have their merits but remember what the systems for - telling people about stuff that relates to them!
The argument that messages go out too late is a non-issue - it's the fault of the event organiser to not tell us to get the word out in time, not Bill's!
It swings both ways (hur hur hur)
I can see the benefits of both, but for me the perceived effort of reading a short email (or, just the contents at the top) every day is less than the effort of reading a long email (again, just the contents) twice a week. This is of course different for different people, hence the poll :)
Also, while I generally agree with you on the last paragraph, and as much as I'd like to tell people who do that to stuff it up their jumper, most of the emails I receive on those lines are from Caius societies that need some last minute publicity, which melts my jumper stuffing feelings.
Frequent emails.
No point getting an email on Wednesday evening for an event on Thursday morning. It's better to get emails frequently, and filter them using your mail client so your inbox doesn't get full.
